Set on 45 acres of lush tropical gardens in the quiet villiage of Port Antonio, Frenchman's Cove has a coast-line reaching 30 to 50 feet above the sea. A spectacular breach in the rock wall forms a secluded white sand beach. The ocean front cottages and rooms in The Great House at Frenchman's Cove provide comfort, privacy and access to this famous beach for which this resort is named.
Nestled at the outlet of a fresh-water stream, the beach's white sand and turquoise waters have attracted visitors to Jamaica for decades. Developed in the 1960s, Frenchman's Cove set the benchmark at that time. It was patronized by the very rich and the very famous, looking for the best of the Caribbean while protected from the public gaze. Sadly damaged by Hurricane Gilbert in the 1980's, the main building, the cottages and the spectacular landscape have all been restored as a more accessible, environmentally friendly, socially conscious boutique hotel for individuals as well as retreat groups seeking peace and beauty off the beaten track.
Scattered over the grounds the one, two and three bedroom cottages each offer a unique sea view where you will drift to sleep with the hypnotic sound of waves meeting land. No cottage is within sight of another, so you can enjoy your own truly private corner of paradise. The Great House offers 10 spacious, air-conditioned rooms with private baths and balconies overlooking the gardens. On the ground level you will find the lounge that opens on to the large, covered open-air dining area. And it's just a two-minute stroll down to the beach.
Breakfasts and dinners are served at the main restaurant with lunches down at the beach. Local, organic produce is used when available and vegetarians as well as vegans can be accommodated.
Retreat Capacity: 8-45 adults
